Melissa Ferraro, a Michigan native, moved to Delaware in 2000 to attend the University of Delaware, and has been a resident ever since. While at the University of Delaware she studied Criminal Justice. Ferraro then attended Culinary School of Philadelphia, where her passion for food and food service blossomed. In 2009, after years of working in local restaurants, Melissa underwent the task of starting her own catering company, which has given her the opportunity to work with many fantastic people as well as create food that she loves. In year 2015, Ferraro opened up Outlandish Food Truck which enabled her to travel to many unique events and fun places. Melissa is excited about her biggest endeavor yet, opening up Sonora at the David Finney Inn, where she intends to continue creating 'gourmet comfort food' with exceptional flavors. Her three kids can often be seen helping out at her food truck. 



Historic New Castle, situated along the Delaware River, was founded in was originally settled by the Dutch West India Company in 1651. The New Castle Historic District is an area approximately 4 by 5 blocks square in the center of town with about 500 historic buildings that date from c. 1700 to 1940. This area contains one of the highest concentrations of well-preserved buildings dating from the 17th to early 19th centuries. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1967.
